Antwerp pianist Anja Kuttner unites some top notch musicians for the romantic program “The Muses of Schumann and Dvořák”. Starting point for the performance: the muses these great composers wrote for and their love lives.
Schumann’s love for his wife Clara was a source of creative energy and has resulted in some of his most applauded works. Anja and her ensemble will play ‘Fantasiestücke Op. 73’, and ‘Märchenerzählungen Op. 132’.
By contrast, Dvořák’s deeply felt love for Josefina remained unanswered. And yet she had a big impact on his music, even during his marriage to Anna. You can clearly hear this in his ‘Pianoquartet Nr. 1, Op. 23’.
The ensemble takes you on a musical journey through lives and loves of these two inspiring maestros. Discover the stories about the women that inspired them and the wonderful music that resulted from all this longing.
The ‘Anja Kuttner Ensemble’ is a newly formed ensemble of musicians from various major Belgian orchestras.
